Tassell Park Cascade

August 13th 2009 The GLC Directed by Aaron Bouwman and 5 chapter quartets performed a free outdoor concert at the Leslie E. Tassell Park in Cascade MI of the Greater Grand Rapids area along the Thornapple River for their free Riverbeat Concert Series. It was a sunny day but very humid and even though we only wore our new yellow dress shirts and black pants it didn't take much exertion to work up a sweat. The audience was comfortable in light shirts and shorts and there's even a fountain for the kids to play in. They were all in lawn chair and picnic blanket seating around the stage. The acoustics were very unusual but the audience was thrilled. We started singing 7pm and the sun was already setting behind the tree tops because the park stage is in a depression with the river behind the stage. This gave all the photos a dark blue color, I did some color adjustments so some might be a little too green or red but definitely better.

Chapter quartets performing were collegiate quartet Fountain Street Four, then Vocal Artisans, and after intermission was Showtime, Harmony Transfer and Shades Of Grey. Fountain Street Four had a recent shake up retiring their lead, moving their tenor to lead, and getting new tenor Brandon Ciesielski. Shades Of Grey also have a new member retiring their bass for GLC chorus member John Baker. FS4 & VA are both competing next week at the longest running barbershop travel trophy contest, Bush League!
