barbershop style sing

BARITONE, Doug Weaver is a member of the Grand Rapids Barbershop Chapter The Great Lakes Chorus which is where this quartet got its start. Doug is a newbie to barbershop but not to music and is a world traveler.  This travel agent for Witte Travel has been helping other men and women's choruses with their travel needs.  One advantage Doug finds in working with these other chapters is that he gets to sing with them as well.

BASS, John Baker a member of the Grand Rapids Barbershop Chapter The Great Lakes Chorus has sung in five international competitions with GLC and has won two Novice quartet championships. John has starred in the barbershop quartet for 2006 Grand Rapids Civic Theatre's production of The Music Man. Also he and his wife Shirley have taken on the family tradition of hosting the longest running annual Grand Rapids barbershop outing, The Corn Roast.  This first time grandpa says thanks to, "My wife whom I love and seldom see because of my hobbies, and who has blessed me with children that I love so much and supportive of what I do, and I thank them all."

LEAD, Phil Johnson joined the barbershop society over 13 years ago to sing with the Great Lakes Chorus and has been in numberous quartets over the years.  Phil has sung in several international chorus competitions and sung the National Anthem at many local sporting events, including for the Grand Rapids Grand Prix. 2006 Phil starred in the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre's production of The Music Man in the barbershop quartet.  This now retired man of leasure tries to balance family and song and occasionally gets to spend time with his wife, Sue and thanks her for sharing his hobby and allowing him to play.

TENOR, Eric O'Brock is a relative newcomer to barbershop singing, officially joining the Grand Rapids Barbershop Chapter The Great Lakes Chorus in March of 2006.  Besides singing tenor in Barbershop Style, he sings lead in the chorus and bass in his church choir.  Along with singing, he enjoys vintage movies, reading history and biographies.  He works in the record department at Spectrum-Butterworth.  He and his wife Laura have two children.
