The Great Lakes Chorus was formed in 1947 and has been a part of the West Michigan music community ever since. The chorus has been crowned Pioneer District Champions many times and we’ve qualified for and competed in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international competition, in Detroit in 1953, Minneapolis in 1956, Columbus in 1958, Detroit in 1981, Seattle in 1983, Salt Lake City in 1986, San Antonio in 1988, Kansas City in 1989, San Francisco in 1990, Salt Lake City in 1996, Indianapolis in 1997, Atlanta in 1998, Kansas City in 2000, Nashville in 2001, Portland in 2002, Portland in 2012, Pittsburgh in 2015, Nashville in 2016, Las Vegas in 2017 – and Orlando in 2018. The chorus is recognized in the barbershop world as an “A” level chorus.
